Inverted nipples occur when the nipple is pulled inward toward the breast rather than protruding outward as it normally would. This condition may be present from puberty onward (congenital form) or develop later in life.<\/span><\/p>

There are several degrees of intussusception, ranging from a mild form that can be manually reduced to a more severe and permanent form. In most cases, it is a benign condition. However, it can lead to:<\/span><\/p>

    Nipple inversion is most often caused by tension exerted by the milk ducts (the tubes that carry milk) or by retractile fibers located beneath the nipple.<\/span><\/p>

    • release the fibrous adhesions causing retraction<\/span><\/li>
    • restore the nipple's natural projection<\/span><\/li>
    • stabilize the achieved position to minimize the risk of recurrence<\/span><\/li>
    • preserve blood supply and local sensation as much as possible<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      Depending on the degree of inversion, different techniques may be used. In mild cases, simply releasing the fibers may be sufficient. In more severe cases, sutures or specific techniques may be necessary to ensure that the nipple remains protruding over the long term.<\/span><\/p>

        Treatment for inverted nipples begins with a consultation with a specialist to accurately assess the condition and determine whether surgery is indicated.<\/span><\/p>

        During this consultation, a clinical examination of the nipple is performed to assess the degree of inversion and analyze the morphology of the areola.
