Overview

Penoplasty refers to all techniques aimed at altering the appearance of the penis, most commonly for:

  • increase the circumference
  • increase the apparent length at rest
  • improve the comfort of the intimate area

The main categories are:

  • medical penoplasty (via injection)
  • surgical penoplasty (sectioning of the suspensory ligament ± associated procedure)

The request must always be carefully reviewed to verify the appropriateness of the indication and to clearly explain the realistic results that can be expected.

Explanation of the technique

La pénoplastie regroupe plusieurs techniques visant à améliorer l’aspect esthétique du pénis, notamment sa circonférence ou sa longueur apparente au repos.

Depending on the patient’s needs, their anatomy, and the desired outcomes, various approaches may be recommended. The main categories are:

  • medical penoplasty, designed to increase girth
  • surgical penoplasty, aimed at increasing the apparent length when flaccid
  • a combined approach that addresses both volume and projection

Each technique has specific indications and is discussed on an individual basis during the consultation.

Medical penoplasty (circumference augmentation)

Medical penoplasty involves increasing the girth of the penis by injecting a biodegradable filler, most commonly one based on hyaluronic acid.

The product is gradually injected under the skin of the penis using micro-cannulas, ensuring even distribution and a natural-looking result.

In particular, this technique allows you to:

  • to increase the diameter of the penis
  • to improve the appearance of the penis
  • to achieve a natural look at rest

The procedure is performed in a personalized and gradual manner to ensure that the volume injected is tailored to the patient’s expectations and anatomy.

It is important to note that this technique does not increase the length of the penis. It only affects the girth.

Since the product used is absorbable, the effects are temporary and may require maintenance injections to maintain the results.

Surgical penoplasty (resting lengthening)

Surgical penoplasty is designed to increase the apparent length of the penis when flaccid. This procedure involves cutting the suspensory ligament of the penis, an anatomical structure that attaches the penis to the pubic bone.

By releasing this ligament, the portion of the penis located inside the body can protrude further outward, resulting in a visible increase in length when flaccid.

In particular, the intervention enables:

  • to improve the projection of the penis
  • to increase the apparent length of the penis when flaccid
  • to make the penis more visible and more prominent

It is important to note that this procedure does not increase the length of the penis when erect, as it affects only the portion visible when flaccid.

In some cases, liposuction of the pubic area may be performed in conjunction with the procedure to reduce excess fat at the base of the penis. This step can improve the visibility of the penis and enhance the lengthening effect.

Combined techniques

Depending on the patient's expectations and anatomy, it may be appropriate to combine several techniques to achieve a more comprehensive result.

A combined approach can help improve the following simultaneously:

  • the circumference of the penis
  • the apparent length at rest
  • the overall harmony of the intimate area

For example, surgical penoplasty aimed at increasing the length of the penis when flaccid can be combined with medical penoplasty to increase its girth.

The treatment plan is always determined on a case-by-case basis during the consultation, following a thorough assessment of the patient’s anatomy and a detailed discussion of their expectations and realistic outcomes.

Overview of the procedure

The process for penoplasty begins with a specialized consultation to review your request and determine whether medical or surgical treatment is appropriate.

During this consultation, a clinical examination is performed to assess your anatomy and discuss your expectations in detail. This step is essential for setting realistic goals and determining the technique best suited to your situation.

You will receive detailed medical information and a personalized quote, in accordance with the legal cooling-off period. Medical photographs may be taken to facilitate preoperative analysis and monitoring of results.

Before the procedure, a preoperative evaluation is ordered, and a consultation with the anesthesiologist is scheduled when necessary.

Two types of penoplasty may be recommended depending on the indications:

  • Medical penoplasty, which involves injections to increase the girth of the penis. This procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, lasts about 30 to 45 minutes, and is done on an outpatient basis.
  • Surgical penoplasty, which is primarily intended to increase the length of the penis when flaccid. The procedure is performed in a clinic under general or local anesthesia with sedation, lasts about an hour on average, and is most often done on an outpatient basis or with brief post-operative monitoring.

Overview of the procedure

The postoperative course depends on the treatment method used (medical or surgical), but is usually uncomplicated and allows for a gradual return to normal activities.

Following medical penoplasty, the following symptoms may occur in the days following the procedure:

  • localized swelling
  • minor bruises
  • transient sensitivity
  • sometimes a temporary sensation of irregularity

These symptoms are generally mild and temporary. You can usually resume your daily activities quickly. It is recommended that you avoid sexual intercourse for about 1 to 2 weeks and refrain from strenuous physical activity during the first few days.

Après une pénoplastie chirurgicale, une récupération progressive est nécessaire. Dans les premiers jours, il est fréquent d’observer :

  • edema
  • bruises
  • moderate discomfort
  • a feeling of tightness in the area where the surgery was performed

Activities are gradually resuming :

  • light activities: after a few days
  • sedentary work: about 1 to 2 weeks
  • sports: usually after 4 weeks
  • sexual intercourse: usually after 4 to 6 weeks

A post-operative follow-up appointment is scheduled to monitor healing and the progress of the results.

Results depend on the technique used, the patient’s initial anatomy, and the patient’s expectations.

Medical penoplasty increases girth with results that are visible immediately and stabilize after a few days. The results are temporary, as the product is absorbable, with an average duration of approximately 12 to 18 months.

Surgical penoplasty results in an increase in flaccid length and greater penile exposure. It is important to note that this procedure does not increase erectile length. The results become apparent gradually as swelling subsides.

As part of a comprehensive approach, it is possible to improve both the circumference and the projection at rest, thereby achieving overall harmony in the genital area.

The goal is always to achieve a natural, proportionate result that is in harmony with the patient’s anatomy, after providing clear information about the possibilities and limitations of each technique.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Penoplasty

No. Surgical penoplasty primarily affects the apparent length when flaccid, while medical penoplasty affects the girth.

Medical penoplasty uses a biodegradable material; therefore, the results are temporary and may require maintenance. Surgical penoplasty provides long-lasting results at rest.

The scar from penoplasty surgery is inconspicuous and located in the pubic area.

Side effects are usually mildly uncomfortable for the first few days, then gradually improve.

The best candidates are patients who:

  • realistic expectations
  • an identified aesthetic or psychological concern
  • an anatomy compatible with the technique

The consultation helps confirm the diagnosis.
